My Travel

Three months ago ( February 2021 )  I left for India, to see various landscapes, from the peaks of the Himalayas to the coast of the Indian Ocean. I went there with 3 friends and we spent a week in Mumbai and a few days in Kolkata.

Once upon a time in India

Only two days after our arrival in Mumbai we wanted to go to Kolaghat, so we went to the Mumbai station to take the train. As always the station was full and chaos reigned, but we still managed to find the platform and get on the train we wanted.

But a problem occurred: my three friends were in a different car from mine, with the crowd on the train, we could not join each other. I felt both proud of succeeding  to get on this train  and very anxious of being far from my friends in a train with almost twice its maximum of passengers.

Departure : Chhatrapati Shivaji Station ( Mumbai )

Stop : Nagpur Junction railway station

Final destination : Kolkata Railway Station ( Howrah )

After this scary feeling I wondered how all these passengers could travel that way. A few minutes after the departure of the train, I had to find the berth noted on my ticket and I  hoped to find my friends there. Fortunately it took less time than expected (2 hours) and my friends were waiting for me. The trip lasted more than 30 hours, we had taken food for one meal so we ordered our dinner via an application  ( named Travelkhana ) . The application allowed us to have the meal of our choice delivered directly on the train when we stopped at a station. Personally I ordered some puris. How tasty !                                                                                                                           Shortly before our arrival in Kolkata, our attention was caught by a slum which reminded us of the sad poverty of the population despite the strong economic growth of the country.

As expected, the arrival was hectic due to the number of people who were waiting on the platform but there was less stress and anxiety than when we left.

This is the picture of Mumbai train station . As soon as we entered we could see a large number of vehicles. This historic building also contains a beautiful facade ( classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO since 2004). Amazing, isn't it ?

This is the picture of our arrival at the Kolkata Railway Station ( Howrah ) .

Important notes

Whether at Chhatrapati Shivaji station, Nagpur Junction station or Kolkata (Howrah) station, we saw people working for the association "Railway Children". This association protects the children lost the station.

I encourage you to make donations.
